DESCRIPTION:How to Achieve Absolute Zero Emissions in Trans-Oceanic Shipping\n\n\n\n\n\nZESTAs ShipZERO30 workshop\, “HyWindships” brings together shipowners\, hydrogen producers\, wind propulsion experts\, cargo owners\, investors\, technology developers\, and policymakers committed to achieving Absolute Zero Emissions to discover how collectively we can achieve absolute zero emissions by working together across the full supply chain. “Wind and Wave to Wake”. \n\n\n\n\n\nCollaboratively\, we will explore how together\, we can make this work energetically\, and therefore economically. The key being efficiencies: efficiency in vessel design\, efficiency in onboard energy system designs\, but also efficiencies in the global energy system\, from the capture of renewable energy all the way through the supply chain to its use on the vessel. “Wind and Wave to Wake”! \nA “HyWindship” is an electric vessel that uses wind\, combined with energy stored in batteries and hydrogen\, for propulsion. It relies solely on electric propulsion to reach favourable winds when there is too little wind or none in the right direction\, and also in port\, for both manoeuvring and alongside. These vessels are also capable of topping up their energy storage systems when wind is abundant\, further reducing onboard energy storage needs. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe seminar will feature:\n\nCase studies from shipowners operating absolute zeroe vessels\nInsights from hydrogen producers scaling supply chains\nTechnology demonstrations in wind propulsion and hydrogen systems\nAnalysis of energy system efficiency and electrification\nAn international helicopter view of RE and green hydrogen supply chains\nCollaborative sessions with ecosystem stakeholders\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy this matters\nThe solutions are real.
