SUMMARY:Third North Sea Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Conference
DESCRIPTION:REALISING THE MARITIME HYDROGEN POTENTIAL OF THE NORTH SEA REGION\nOrganised by the North Sea Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Community (NS HyMaP) with the support of CMB.TECH and Nedstack. \nTuesday 22 November 2022 – Scotland Europa Conference Centre\, 8th Floor\, Rond-Point Schuman 6\, B1040 Brussels \nSince the Second North Sea Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Conference in February 2020\, the role of hydrogen in energy transition has been more and more crucial and there has been much activity in the North Sea Region. The EU published its Hydrogen Strategy in July 2020 and national hydrogen strategies were agreed in Germany\, the Netherlands and Norway. The UK Hydrogen Strategy was published in August 2021 and Denmark’s Power-to-X strategy in March 2022 The EU has published a series of documents that will develop its Hydrogen Strategy and integrate hydrogen into broader EU energy policy. \nThis strategic activity has been matched by the development of major projects in the Region. In its webinar series\, NS HyMaP looked at the role of large green hydrogen projects in the North Sea Region and highlighted the AquaVentus and NortH2 projects. We have also looked at the key role of ports in the development of a North Sea hydrogen economy and\, with the Scottish Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association (SHFCA)\, we held the Hydrogen Bridges Across the North Sea webinar in September 2021. \nThe third North Sea Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Conference builds on this activity and looks at a number of policy initiatives that will emphasise the key role that the ports and maritime sector must play in the creation of a hydrogen economy. Firstly\, we look at the advantages that ports have in developing regional hydrogen economies as hydrogen valleys and the steps that ports are taking to create these valleys. \nThe development of hydrogen vessels for work in ports and short sea shipping will also be a key challenge in the coming years and we look at a range of issues including system design\, onboard storage and safety.\nBunkering will also be a critical issue for the creation of a short sea shipping network in the North Sea Region and this will be discussed at the Conference in a session looking at the transport of hydrogen. Hydrogen transportation will be a key issue as some areas of the North Sea will be exporters of hydrogen while other areas will be net importers. \nThe European Commission and Institutions have played a crucial role in stressing the importance of hydrogen and we will have key speakers from the Commission outlining recent policy initiatives to promote hydrogen and renewable energy while addressing the energy crisis. \n  \n \n  \n  \n  \nDRAFT AGENDA\n9.45 Registration and Coffee \n10.00 Welcome and Introduction \n10.10 NORTH SEA PORTS AS HYDROGEN VALLEYS\nThe Orion Project \n\nJoe Najduch\, Future Energy Project Manager\, Shetlands Islands Council\nStimulating Hydrogen Demand In and Around Ports\nJoanne Allday\, Strategic Business Development Manager\, Port of Cromarty Firth\n Green Hydrogen Hubs\nSpeaker from a major European port\nPanel Discussion\n\n11.30     Coffee \n12.00     HYDROGEN VESSEL DESIGN \n\nHydrogen Harbour Tugboats\nJogchum Bruinsma\, Applications Manager (Maritime)\, Nedstack\nSystem Design and Safety for Hydrogen-Powered Inland and Short-Sea Vessels\nMilinko Godjevac\, Senior Integration Advisor\, Future Proof Shipping\nFerry Development\nSpeaker to be announced\nTopeka Project: Establishing Hydrogen in Ports and Onboard Vessels\nTomas Tronstad\, Head of Shipping & Technology\, Wilhelmsen New Energy\n\n13.15     LUNCH \n14.00     THE FORMATION AND WORK OF EUROPEAN PARTNERSHIPS UNDER HOROZON \n\nEUROPE\nThe European Partnership on Clean Hydrogen\nBart Biebuyck\, Executive Director\nThe European Partnership for Zero Emission Waterborne Transport\nJaap Gebraad\, Executive Director\n\n14.30     POLICY DEVELOPMENTS IN THE EUROPEAN UNION \n\nThe Development of Hydrogen Valleys\nRosalinde van der Vlies\, Director\, Clean Planet Directorate\, DG Research\nThe Fuel EU Maritime Regulation and Revision of the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Directive\nRicardo Batista\, Waterborne Transport Directorate\, DG Move\nThe Maritime Sector in the Emission Trading Scheme and EU Innovation Fund\nDamien Meadows\, Head of Unit\, International Carbon Market Aviation and Maritime\, DG Clima\n\n15.15     Coffee \n15.30     HYDROGEN BUNKERING AND TRANSPORT IN THE NORTH SEA REGION   \n\nThe Use of Hydrogen in Ports\nBenjamin Weinacht \, Managing Director CMB Germany\nGreen Hydrogen Production and Bunkering in North Sea Ports\nDavid Newman\, Zero Emission Ship Technology Association\nDeveloping Project: North Sea Hydrogen Valley Ports\nJon Jordan\, Secretary\, NS HyMaP\n\n17.00      Close\nThe draft Agenda is based on the April Conference and speakers are being approached to invite them to speak in November. \nRegistration and Conference Fees \nNS HyMaP Members      €90 \nEarly Bird Rate                 €130 until 1 November 2022 \nFull Rate                            €150 \nPlease register on the European Policy Solutions website (www.europeanpolicysolutions.com )  Click on the seminar button and that should take you to the Conference Page.
