Collaboration for Disruption
“If we are to align with IPCC recommendations of 1.5, shipping needs to ‘come about’ now!”
“The way to accelerate the energy transition… is we’ve got to be fast.”
Ben Medland, CEO and Founder of Drift Energy.
We need to get together to achieve True Zero. Sarah Arntz, COO of Wattlab
“We don’t need to wait for the regulators.” Chris Kidd, partner at Ince, discusses how law can support our voyage to True Zero.
“We need to collaborate” Alexandra Beverley, Bureau Veritas
ShipZERO brings together change-makers and innovators from across the entire maritime value chain from shipowners and manufacturers to financiers and regulators.
Madadh MacLaine, Secretary General: The necessity of collaboration in this crisis
‘Ship ZERO° 26’ laid out a course to true zero emissions using the waypoints of existing technologies and innovations, combining perspectives and experiences from a wide range of industry stakeholders to plot a course through the stormy seas of regulation, finance, new technological developments and fuel uncertainty. The first deliverable was a policy paper which was shared with COP26 delegates. The final deliverable will be a collaborative and interactive navigational chart (‘Charging to True Zero°’), which will be shared with COP26 delegates, shipping and energy industry stakeholders, as well as delivered to the IMO, in both written report and film formats.
At ‘Ship ZERO° 26.5’ we examined unmitigatedly disruptive projects and collaboration tools, demonstrating concrete examples that propel us to True Zero.
If we are going to reduce emissions in line with 1.5, shipping as we know it must cease to exist.
How can we disrupt business as usual without disrupting the flow of goods?
This will require a disruptive level collaboration!
Sponsorship Opportunities available
ZESTAs ShipZERO28 will address ZE Energy supplies, the ZE transition in Ports as well as ZE Maritime Transport.
ShipZERO26 in Glasgow at COP26 was the first ever shipping event to exclusively consider True Zero Emissions solutions. ShipZERO28 at London International Shipping Week 2023 will pick up the story after 2 years of development: Looking at the advancements in everything from market proliferation to the size of powerplants, renewable energy production, electrolyser factories, and so much more.
Join us for one or both days.
Day one will fucus primarily on the global picture: ports, infrastructure, and renewable fuel supply to the maritime industry, followed by a cocktail reception and Gala Dinner.
Day two will focus more specifically on shipping and shipboard technologies.
The big picture – Building Global Zero Emissions Ecosystems
- The global picture – from Pilot Projects to Giga Factories.
- Where is True Zero Happening today?
- How do we build toward True Zero on a global scale?
- Coalition building with wider stakeholder groups

The Shifting Paradigm
Who are the new players who will reshape the energy and shipping sectors?
As these sectors are slow to move, new operators are moving in, starting from a base of true zero operations. We will look at who these players are and how they are forcing change in the industry
ZE Ports – ZE Shipping starts in ZE Ports.
- ZE ports today
- ZE eco-systems within traditional ports
- Containerised ZE fuel delivery solutions
- ZE Port infrastructure
- ZE multi-fuel bunkers
ZE Energy – ZE Shipping requires ZE Energy
How will we provide shipping with the required renewable energy without competing with terrestrial energy needs?
- Offshore hydrogen production
- Offshore charging and bunkering
- Mobile offshore energy – new class of renewables
Finance and Policy
How has Policy shifted to create an investment case for ZE technologies and fuels and what still needs to be done?
Shipowners, Policy and Finance experts discuss changes in the last twelve months and what these mean for the investment outlook in the coming years.
