ZESTAs Secretary General Visits MOL’s ‘Wind Hunter’ Mobile Hydrogen Pilot

Mar 17, 2026

Yesterday, I had the privilege of visiting a true pioneer in the maritime energy transition: the pilot vessel for MOL’s Wind Hunter Project. This is more than a ship; it is a mobile, offshore hydrogen factory. By capturing wind energy and converting it into green hydrogen via onboard electrolysers in real-time, Wind Hunter solves the dual hurdles of energy storage and transport.

During my visit, we discussed strategic collaborations to deploy these hydrogen wind ships in remote regions. This technology is a game-changer for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Coastal LDCs. Localized production allows these nations to bypass the volatile logistics of the old order and become core hubs in a sovereign, global hydrogen supply chain.

As this project moves toward full-scale implementation, it proves that the tools for a zero-emission maritime lifeline are already on the water. This is how we ensure an equitable transition that leaves no one behind.
