Our partnership with FPS
Air Liquide and Future Proof Shipping (FPS) have launched two zero-emission hydrogen-powered river vessels named H2 Barge 1 & 2. This marks a step towards the decarbonization of inland waterways, by replacing the traditional fuel used in shipping with hydrogen. Air Liquide is supplying the vessels with hydrogen via a storage system specially designed for inland navigation. The hydrogen is stored in compressed form in containers that are used as on-board hydrogen tanks. The solution designed by Air Liquide enables fast, reliable hydrogen recharging.
Air Liquide and FPS are also collaborating on several European initiatives aimed at decarbonizing inland shipping, such as the RH2INE program (Rhine Hydrogen Integration Network of Excellence, supported by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management) or the RH2IWER consortium, supported by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership.
