Accelerating the Deployment of Absolute Zero Emissions Shipping

ZESTAs unites the innovators and technologies driving absolute zero in shipping — on vessels, in ports, and across the supply chain

Absolute Zero, No Compromise

We focus exclusively on technologies that eliminate emissions entirely — green hydrogen, electrification, wind propulsion, and battery systems.

Built for Deployment

Deployment needs more than a single solution.
Shipowners, tech providers, ports, and finance — working together to make it happen now.

Global Platform

Through ShipZERO workshops, IMO advocacy, and strategic partnerships, we drive real-world progress and amplify member impact worldwide.

Built for Absolute Zero

ZESTAs is a global industry association accelerating the deployment of Absolute Zero Emissions technologies in shipping — right now. Our members span the full maritime value chain, from shipowners and fuel providers to ports, power systems, and finance.

We convene cross-sector collaboration through the ShipZERO workshop series, contribute to regulatory development at the IMO, and support deployment ecosystems built on technologies that fully eliminate GHG emissions — not reduce them.

Founded in 2019, ZESTAs is focused, independent, and unapologetically practical. We’re not here to describe the transition. We’re here to deliver it.

Why Join ZESTAs?

Deployment-Driven Collaboration

Build practical alliances across the full value chain: vessels, fuels, ports, and finance.

Policy-Level Influence

Engage in technical input and high-level advocacy at the IMO — where decisions are made.

Global Recognition

Gain visibility as a trusted, technically grounded solution provider in Absolute Zero shipping.

Strategic Continuity

Stay connected through ShipZERO workshops, events, and long-term ecosystem-building efforts.

Charging to True Zero

Held in Glasgow during COP26, Ship ZERO26 brought together industry leaders to chart a course to Absolute Zero using real technologies already in play. The first output—a policy paper—was shared with COP26 delegates. The final deliverable, Charging to True Zero°, has been delivered to the IMO and shared with key stakeholders as a written report. All sessions were recorded.

When, Where, and How is Absolute Zero Shipping Possible Now?

Held in September 2023, ShipZERO28 tackled the urgent question: how can the shipping industry align with IPCC’s 1.5°C trajectory—now?

Three shipowners shared real-world challenges, sparking practical discussions on combining technologies and strategies to reach Absolute Zero. Strategic plans were shaped, laying the groundwork for future deployment.

Key outcomes were shared in a follow-up ShipZERO28 Online Webinar. All sessions were recorded.
