EOConcept was at SMM 2026 in Hamburg, the leading international maritime trade fair, to present EO2, its liquid hydrogen-powered cargo vessel project. The event gave the team an opportunity to meet shipowners, shipyards, equipment suppliers and financial partners, and to share the latest progress on the project.
The project is now entering a decisive phase. EOConcept expects to reach financial close by the end of 2027, a milestone that would enable construction to start. To get there, EOConcept is still looking for a charterer to commit to the vessel. Shipping companies and cargo owners who want to decarbonize their maritime transport are invited to contact the team to discuss a possible partnership.
Energy Observer has also secured CORIMER support for EO3, its next-generation catamaran. CORIMER is the French program backing research and innovation in the maritime industry, and this support marks an important step in the development of the vessel.
Finally, Energy Observer teams will be in Saint-Malo for the Route du Rhum. The Energy Observer village will be open to the public from 20 October to 1 November. School groups will also be welcomed for dedicated sessions including visits of EO1, the expedition’s laboratory vessel, to present Energy Observer’s projects and open the discussion on low-carbon project engineering and the decarbonization of maritime transport.
