ZESTAs is pleased to welcome DHAMMA SEA as a new member, joining the association’s growing network of companies working to advance True Zero emissions shipping.
Through Dhamma Blue, the team is developing hydrogen-powered boats that combine electric propulsion, hydrogen fuel cell technology, lithium battery storage, smart energy management, and lightweight vessel design. Their work focuses on cleaner, quieter, high-performance boating, while demonstrating how hydrogen-electric systems can be applied in real marine conditions.
The company’s DHB-P01 is a 7.9 metre boat powered by a hybrid hydrogen-electric propulsion system. It combines a hydrogen fuel cell with lithium batteries to power a 140 kW electric motor, with onboard energy storage of 8.4 kg H₂ and 63 kWh battery capacity. Dhamma Blue reports a top speed of 28 knots and a range of approximately 65 nautical miles at 12 knots.
This work is relevant to ZESTAs because it addresses one of the central challenges in zero-emission vessel deployment: turning clean power systems into practical, operable marine products. Hydrogen fuel cells, batteries, vessel design, energy management, refuelling, and safety all need to work together as part of a complete system.
Dhamma Blue also highlights the importance of green hydrogen infrastructure, including collaboration with hydrogen refuelling station manufacturers to develop safe and efficient bunkering solutions. This aligns closely with ZESTAs’ ecosystem approach, which connects vessel technology, ports, energy supply, safety, regulation, and deployment planning.
By joining ZESTAs, DHAMMA SEA becomes part of an international platform bringing together technology developers, vessel operators, ports, energy providers, class, safety experts, and policy actors. This cross-sector coordination is essential if zero-emission vessel technologies are to move from demonstration to wider deployment.
ZESTAs looks forward to working with DHAMMA SEA and supporting their contribution to the advancement of True Zero emissions shipping.
