ShipZERO31 Med ZEE Web-workshop 3
Can the Mediterranean Produce Enough Renewable Energy & Hydrogen for Zero Emissions Shipping?
Zero-emission ships need zero-emission energy.
But how much renewable energy and hydrogen will Mediterranean shipping require, and can the region produce, distribute and deliver it at the scale needed?
The third ShipZERO31 workshop will bring together experts in renewable energy, hydrogen production and infrastructure to examine what exists today, what is planned, and where the gaps remain.
We’ll look at land-based and marine renewable energy, hydrogen production, ports and infrastructure, and the distribution networks needed to connect energy supply with vessels.
The first hour will feature short expert presentations. The second will bring the speakers together to explore how these different solutions could connect into a practical Mediterranean zero emissions energy network.

Building on Workshops 1 & 2
The first two ShipZERO31 workshops explored swappable energy storage systems and wind, hydrogen and efficiency. Workshop 3 moves upstream to the energy itself: where the renewable power and hydrogen will come from, how much will be needed, and how it can be connected to ports and vessels across the Mediterranean.
The Med ZEE Energy workshop is sponsored by Guofu Hydrogen Energy Equipment and GF Hydrogen Africa.
GF Hydrogen Africa (GFHA) is a Moroccan company specializing in green hydrogen industrial solutions and the Moroccan subsidiary of GUOFUHEE. GFHA operates across the entire hydrogen mobility value chain, offering electrolyzers for green hydrogen production, compression, storage and transportation solutions, hydrogen trailers, refueling stations, and hydrogen-powered buses and mobility systems. The company also aims to develop local manufacturing capabilities for electrolyzers and other hydrogen technologies, supporting Morocco’s industrial development and the growth of a sustainable hydrogen economy across Africa.
