About the company
ARGO ANLEG GMBH is a manufacturer of gas products and systems, with a specialization in hydrogen technologies.
Its core activities focus on offering hydrogen storage and distribution systems, including onboard and swappable solutions.
With more than 25 years of experience in hydrogen, the company has contributed to over 60 mobile application projects across multiple sectors, including off-road and on-road mobility, maritime and inland waterways, aerospace, defence, and rail.
ARGO ANLEG designs and manufactures standard and custom components to meet specific requirements.
The company operates its manufacturing facility in Wesel, Germany.
Critical High-Pressure Components
With strong expertise in the design and manufacturing of critical high-pressure hydrogen products and systems, ARGO ANLEG GMBH has developed dedicated components, such as OTVs (On-Tank Valves), specifically adapted for maritime and inland applications, integrating enhanced safety functions to meet stringent operational and regulatory requirements, and manufactured in 316L stainless steel.
Advanced Hydrogen Modules
Our core expertise lies in the design and manufacturing of hydrogen modules based on drilled block technology, combining multiple fluidic functions and safety engineering within compact architectures.
For maritime applications, ARGO ANLEG deploys key modules such as Gas Handling Units (GHU), Double Bleed Block Manifolds (DBBM), and other multifunctional drilled blocks integrating critical hydrogen functions.
Fewer interfaces. Lower leakage risks. Added safety functions. Higher robustness. Compact design.
Easier integration. Enabling high maritime requirements and certification.
Maritime Positioning & Ecosystem
ARGO ANLEG GMBH proposes hydrogen product and systems for maritime and inland waterways application, adapted to demanding environments, enabling maritime certification and safe onboard hydrogen integration.
ARGO ANLEG can support its clients in the definition and development of maritime projects, assisting in onboard hydrogen integration and the design of safe and compliant system architectures. Its expertise is continuously strengthened through the implementation of maritime projects, covering engineering and certification activities such as safety studies, system architecture definition, and approval processes.
Flexible and innovation-driven, the company develops components with dedicated and unique safety functions, enabling the safe integration of hydrogen onboard vessels. This approach also includes the development of liquid hydrogen (LH₂) components for future maritime applications.
Located along the Rhine River, ARGO ANLEG is involved in inland waterway applications and contributes to the development of hydrogen ecosystems both on water and on land. With a strong maritime focus in France through its subsidiary, the company has developed expertise in supporting clients on classified vessels, reinforcing its ability to address complex regulatory environments. Its founder, Jan Andreas, with strong ties between Germany and France and a deep personal connection to the sea, is strongly committed to advancing hydrogen solutions for maritime and inland applications. This cross-border positioning supports the deployment of hydrogen solutions across both maritime and inland sectors.
Onboard Hydrogen Storage Systems
The company provides complete hydrogen storage systems for vessels, integrating its components into fully engineered “tank systems.” These solutions are adaptable to different integration concepts, including open deck and confined environments.
ARGO ANLEG GMBH has received several approvals from different classification societies for the integration of compressed hydrogen storage solutions in below-deck configurations. To enable this, the company has developed dedicated components and implemented specific system architectures, primarily focused on enhanced safety
functions.
Transportable Hydrogen Storage
ARGO ANLEG develops modular tank tainer systems compliant with ADR, ADN, and maritime regulations, enabling flexible hydrogen storage and logistics for inland and maritime applications.
An initial 10-foot ADR tank tainer with a capacity of 125 kg has been developed. Building on this, ARGO ANLEG GMBH is now developing a range of 20-foot tank tainer solutions with multiple configurations.
ARGO ANLEG has developed a new generation of tank tainers integrating advanced safety functions, as well as control and monitoring capabilities covering all operational phases. Several tank tainer systems are currently deployed along the Rhine
Mobile Hydrogen Stations
ARGO ANLEG GMBH has been developing mobile hydrogen refuelling stations since 2014, initially to support customer projects
ARGO ANLEG GMBH is now developing a new generation of ADR mobile stations, designed to cover a wide range of applications and capacities. They can be deployed as modular systems, including multiple tank tainers installed on trucks
This approach brings a practical and scalable solution to port environments.
