DESIGN AND ENGINEERING OFFICE
The bridge between imagination and reality
EO Concept is a design, engineering, and technology firm specializing in cutting-edge energy architectures and software solutions for the naval and port sectors.
Born from the practical experience of Energy Observer 1, the first ship to complete a round-the-world voyage using a mix of 100% renewable energies and hydrogen produced on board, EO Concept transforms experimentation into industrial-scale solutions. Where EO1 demonstrated feasibility, EO Concept structures scalability: disruptive technologies, multi-vector architectures, and energy models designed for large-scale implementation.

EO2: FEEDER CONTAINER SHIP POWERED BY FUEL CELLS AND LIQUID HYDROGEN
EO2 is not just another pilot vessel.
EO2 proves that a large-scale zero-emission vessel can be financed, built, and operated as a commercially viable business.
EO2 is not just another pilot vessel. Backed by €40 million from the EU Innovation Fund, it is designed to prove something the industry still lacks: a large-scale zero-emission vessel that operates as a commercially viable business on Europe’s main shipping corridors.
THE CHALLENGE
Shipowners must drastically reduce their emissions in response to FuelEU Maritime, the EU ETS, and the IMO’s decarbonization targets. Yet, no zero-emission solution has so far proven its economic viability on a large commercial vessel operating under real market conditions. The gap between technological demonstrations and commercial operation still needs to be bridged.
EO CONCEPT’S ANSWER
EO2 aims to demonstrate that a large-scale zero-emission vessel can be operated as a commercially viable business on Europe’s main shipping corridors.
With an industrial, energy and financial model largely secured, EO2’s goal is no longer to prove the technology, it’s to validate a replicable model that others in the industry can follow.
