Follow-up project includes two newbuild 3,000 DWT vessels for operation along the Norwegian coast.
eCap Marine has secured a new contract to supply its integrated eCap H2EPS hydrogen energy power systems for two additional hydrogen-powered bulk carriers for Green Maritime Infrastructure (GMI).
The contract builds on the companies’ existing collaboration on hydrogen-powered shipping.
The two newbuild vessels, each with a capacity of approximately 3,000 DWT, will be constructed by Chowgule Shipyards Ltd. in India and are scheduled to enter service in 2029. They will operate primarily in Norwegian coastal waters.
eCap Marine will supply the complete hydrogen system for both vessels, including compressed hydrogen storage, 1.2 MW of PEM fuel cell capacity per vessel, together with the required power management, control and safety systems.
The newbuilds form part of GMI’s continued development of hydrogen-powered coastal shipping.
